Infrared Inspection

Infrared Thermal Imaging is an excellent method of detecting thermal anamolies which can lead to   latent moisture   problems.   It is fast, non-invasive and effective.   While it does not specifically detect or identify mold or wood rot, it can quickly identify potential problems that will develop because of moisture problems.

IR20061117_0005Infrared Inspection makes an infrared thermal map of the building or structure interior, variations in the thermal images from “normal” can be strong indicators of potential problems.   Materials with a higher % of moisture than normal will radiate “cooler” or "hotter" images. In most cases other methods of analysis and inspection are used to follow up on suspected problem areas.motor

Infrared inspection is effective for inspection of Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS) and is referred to as “synthetic stucco".   EIFS inspection identifies areas of high moisture content in the   form board,   sheathing and framing as well as areas where the substrate has already been damaged.

Infrared Thermal Imaging can also detect “electrical hot spots”   and be a valuable preventative maintenance tool for industrial power systems as well as   for mechanical elements and systems, such as industrial machinery and motors.

Infrared thermal imaging is a valuable tool for energy loss, and locating moisture, however you cannot assume that every anomaly is moisture, Inspection Services & Consulting LLC in most instances when phiscally possible will verify the anomaly is moisture with the use of other instruments. Beware of companies that use Infrared Thermal imaging as a stand alone procedure.
